Drive 0.9 miles west on Whetstone Road. Turn right on Land Bridge Road and drive 1.2 miles north. Stop when you come to Hawthorn Road. (where pavement ends) Turn around and drive back 300'. Cemetery will be located on your left. Property currently belongs to John Ridley, 140 Hawthorn, Mountain Rest, SC 29664, 864-638-5648. Latitude N34 49.809 x Longitude W83 09.166 CHURCH/CEMETERY HISTORY: ------------------------ Alice Orr married William B. Land, moving to Land Bridge Road near Chauga Creek. William B. was a descendant of Issac and Mary Billingsley Land. This was a old established family having been issued a grant for property along the Chauga River (circa 1821). The oldest written document, still in the family, is a deed to William Land, witnessed by Issac (circa 1806). This was for acreage on Boone Camp Creek. Issac (1783-1830) and son William Henrey (1829-1905), Company M Palmetto Sharpshooters C.S.A., are buried in the Land family cemetery. William B. was the son of William Henrey and lived from 1873-1939. The union of Alice Orr to William B. produced three sons: Luna Homer (1879- 1976), Warren Lamar (1903-1985), Lloyd Davis (1921-1989), and a daughter, Lena Mae Talley (1916-____). The only descendants of Warren L. and Lizzie Hunter Orr were though the Land family which in 199_ now consist of 7 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren and 7 great-great-great grandchildren.
