After three years the community felt a need for a suitable place of worship and the church was moved to Old Cherry Road, remodeled and given the name of (C247) Little Hope Baptist Church. In 1918, the Little Hope Baptist Church was organized under the Rev. Harrison Wiggins and renamed New Hope Baptist Church. The Rev. J.J. Blassingame was elected as the first pastor. After two years of service by Rev. Blassingame the church was led forward by electing the men of God as follows: Rev. E.G.Rice 1920-1923 Rev. J.C. McDowell 1923-1938 Rev. S.M. Galloway 1938-1948, with the Rev. Gordon Williams as assistant pastor Rev. J.C. McDowell 1948-1971 Rev. A.E. Roberson 1971-1972 Rev. S.A. Mattison 1972-Present The growth in membership and pride of Christian people, dedication and sacrifice have led New Hope in erecting two new edifices (churches) since its founding - once in 1938 and again in 1973. Space will not allow us to name all those who have labored in this vineyard, but all have been men and women dedicated to the cause of Christ. New Hope Baptist Church has a great heritage encompassing a vision now being realized through men and women influenced by Christian giants having left their eternal footprints upon the sands of time. The Deacons and Trustees who are not a part of that heritage and realizers of that vision are as follows: Deacons: Samual Holland, chairman, N.A. Morris, who served fifteen years as chairman with loyalty and dedication, Cato Spencer, Emanuel McDowell and Frank Williams, Sr. Trustees: David Brown, chairman, Bill Williams, Thaylese Morris, Sr., Roger Owens, Manzo Crooks, Frank Williams, Jr., Leslie Williams, Thaylese Morris, Jr. and Timothy Williams. New Hope is a growing testimony to the scripture, "Where there is no vision, the people perish."
