Daniel Carter1 Stewart, son of Robert Studdering (S.T.R.) "Robin" Stewart and Elizabeth Durham, was born in Pickens Co., SC August 30, 1841.i[1] Daniel died March 9, 1921 in Williamston, Anderson Co., SC, at 79 years of age.ii[2] His body was interred in 1158 Mile Creek Road, Pickens Co., SC, Family Cemetery. He married Sarah Elizabeth Susannah Holcombe. Sarah was born in SC About 1850. Sarah was the daughter of Samuel Holcombe? and Sarah Elizabeth Mills. Her body was interred in 1158 Mile Creek Rd., Six Mile, Pickens Co., SC, Family Cemetery. Note for Susannah: Susannah's biological father may have been Samuel Holcombe and her possible step-father may have been William Waddell Martin according to some old family papers. According to The Pickens Sentinel, Issue 21 May 1887, Pickens Co. School Teachers: Hurricane Twp., Nine Mile School was taught by Mrs. S.E.S. Stewart which was most likely Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Susannah Stewart....wife of Daniel Carter Stewart. Daniel served in the military in CSA-Co. B, 2nd Regiment, SC Rifles. He resided in Pelzer, Anderson Co., SC in October 1919 Rt. 2.iii[3] Note for Daniel: Daniel moved from Six Mile (Mile Creek) to Pelzer in Anderson county and died there about 1923. His body was taken from Pelzer to Six Mile (Mile Creek) for burial in the family cemetery. Daniel Carter Stewart and Sarah Elizabeth Susannah Holcombe had the following children: 2 i. Eugene2 Stewart. Eugene died in Alabama. He married Lottie Unknown. 3 ii. Ada Stewart. 4 iii. William Robert? Stewart was born in SC About 1868.iv[4] His body was interred in 1158 Mile Creek Road, Family Cemetery. 5 iv. Lawrence Stewart was born in SC About 1869.v[5] Lawrence died May 12, 1895 in Pelzer, Anderson Co., SC, at 25 years of age.vi[6] His body was interred in 1158 Mile Creek Road, Pickens Co., SC, Family Cemetery. Note: Lawrence's death notice stated that he was 24 years of age. Obit reads as follows: The People's Journal Issue of Thursday 16 May 1895 - Lawrence Stewart, son of Carter Stewart of this county, died at his home in Pelzer, SC last Sunday the 12 (May) of consumption at the age of 24 years. He was buried at the old Stewart burying ground in this county. Mr. Stewart leaves a wife. + 6 v. Alice Ora Eveline Stewart was born March 8, 1873. 7 vi. Susannah "Anna" Stewart was born in SC About 1874.vii[7] 8 vii. Henry Stewart was born in SC About 1875.viii[8] Henry died in Rock Hill, SC. + 9 viii. Arrie Stewart was born April 8, 1879. + 10 ix. Marcus Daniel Stewart was born February 12, 1881. + 11 x. O. Dayton Stewart was born April 9, 1882. + 12 xi. Orton Welborn Stewart was born April 21, 1885. + 13 xii. Appie Angie Stewart was born April 18, 1887. Second Generation 6. Alice Ora Eveline2 Stewart (Daniel Carter1) was born in SC March 8, 1873.ix[9] She married James Boyd Mahaffey. James was born May 5, 1861. Alice Ora Eveline Stewart and James Boyd Mahaffey had the following children: 14 i. Nellie Gracie3 Mahaffey. 15 ii. Boyd Henry Mahaffey was born March 27, 1894. He married Tennie Nickels. 16 iii. Jay Shearman Mahaffey was born March 17, 1896. 17 iv. Kannie Dearey Mahaffey was born July 3, 1898. + 18 v. Ora Colranie Mahaffey was born October 10, 1900. 19 vi. Amos Orton Mahaffey was born April 12, 1903. 20 vii. Edith Anettie Mahaffey was born July 17, 1906. 21 viii. Ruth Almer Mahaffey was born January 12, 1908. 22 ix. Vester Danyel Mahaffey was born June 21, 1909. + 23 x. Willie Christeen Mahaffey was born April 21, 1912. 9. Arrie2 Stewart (Daniel Carter1) was born in SC April 8, 1879. She married A.W. Barnett. A.W. was born December 14, 1880. Arrie Stewart and A.W. Barnett had the following child: 24 i. Alvin3 Barnett was born April 30, 1910. 10. Marcus Daniel2 Stewart (Daniel Carter1) was born February 12, 1881. Marcus died December 21, 1948 at 67 years of age. His body was interred in Pelzer, SC, New Hope Baptist Church. He married Marvin Louiza "Lou" Brown. Marvin was born September 1, 1886. Marvin died March 6, 1949 at 62 years of age. Her body was interred in Pelzer, SC, New Hope Baptist Church. Note for Lou: Lou was a homemaker and helped with farm work. She was also a textile worker at No. 4 Pelzer Mill in Pelzer, SC. Lou was also a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Pelzer, SC. Note for Marcus: Marcus was a farmer, a cotton gin store owner, a carpenter, and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Pelzer, SC. He also helped to build New Hope Baptist Church. Marcus Daniel Stewart and Marvin Louiza "Lou" Brown had the following children: + 25 i. Prue Lee3 Stewart was born April 30, 1905. 26 ii. Bertha Mae Stewart was born April 2, 1907. Bertha died 1984 in CA, at 77 years of age. She married George Turner. 27 iii. Ladie M. Stewart was born November 16, 1909. Ladie died 1973 at 63 years of age. Her body was interred in Pelzer, SC, New Hope. She married Billy Joe Lark. Billy was born December 24, 1942.x[10] Billy was the son of William H. Lark and Zadie S. Unknown. Billy died June 2, 1983 at 40 years of age. Note for Ladie: Ladie worked in the Pelzer cotton mill and was also a teacher. 28 iv. Hazellynn O. "Hazel" Stewart was born October 4, 1911. Hazellynn died 1982 at 70 years of age. Her body was interred in Anderson Co., SC, Forest Lawn Cemetery. She married Harold Walker. 29 v. Manual Laurence Stewart was born April 29, 1913. 30 vi. William Stewart was born April 10, 1915. William died July 6, 1916 at 1 year of age. His body was interred in Pelzer, SC, White Plains Baptist Church. 31 vii. Clyde Lewis Stewart was born January 28, 1917. Clyde died October 19, 1990 at 73 years of age. His body was interred in Pelzer, SC, New Hope Baptist Church. He married Rachel Heilig. Clyde served in the military in U.S. Army-World War II-S Sgt..xi[11] 32 viii. Marcus Troy Stewart was born December 10, 1921. He married Hazel Louise May. Hazel was born August 25, 1944. Hazel died October 14, 1993 at 49 years of age. 33 ix. Marvin Ray Stewart was born February 25, 1923. Marvin died 1970 in SC, at 47 years of age. He married Frances Alexander. She married John Price. 34 x. Sarah Helen Stewart was born November 2, 1925. She married Charles L. League. 35 xi. Dorothy Kate Stewart was born February 17, 1928. Dorothy died November 1983 at 55 years of age. Her body was interred in Pelzer, SC, New Hope Baptist Church. 36 xii. Mary Lou Stewart was born April 10, 1931. She married Billy P. Wilson. 11. O. Dayton2 Stewart (Daniel Carter1) was born April 9, 1882. O. died 1912 at 30 years of age. He married Annie Kate Unknown. Annie was born November 6, 1886. Annie died 1969 at 82 years of age. O. Dayton Stewart and Annie Kate Unknown had the following children: 37 i. Ralph M.3 Stewart was born August 16, 1905. Ralph died August 13, 1942 at 36 years of age.xii[12] His body was interred in Pelzer, SC, New Hope Baptist Church. 38 ii. Vasea Stewart was born June 5, 1908. + 39 iii. Margie Stewart was born August 7, 1910. 12. Orton Welborn2 Stewart (Daniel Carter1) was born April 21, 1885. He married Maggie Unknown. Maggie was born December 9, 1885. Ora Colranie3 Mahaffey (Alice Ora Eveline2 Stewart, Daniel Carter1) was born October 10, 1900. She married Rosco Smith. Ora Colranie Mahaffey and Rosco Smith had the following child: 53 i. Evelyn4 Smith. She married Truman Simmons. 23. Willie Christeen3 Mahaffey (Alice Ora Eveline2 Stewart, Daniel Carter1) was born April 21, 1912. She married William Waters. Willie Christeen Mahaffey and William Waters had the following children: 54 i. Mamie Alice4 Waters. 55 ii. Barbara Waters. She married Ed Lee. 56 iii. Billy Waters. 25. Prue Lee3 Stewart (Marcus Daniel2, Daniel Carter1) was born April 30, 1905. Prue died October 24, 1970 at 65 years of age. His body was interred in Pelzer, SC, New Hope Baptist Church. He married Ruth Brookshere. Ruth was born June 8, 1912.xiii[13] Ruth died January 14, 1984 in SC, at 71 years of age. Her body was interred in Pelzer, SC, New Hope Baptist Church. Note for Ruth: Ruth was a textile worker and a nurse. Prue served in the military in U.S. Navy-SC PHM3. Note for Prue: Prue was a textile worker at Pelzer and Piedmont, SC. Prue Lee Stewart and Ruth Brookshere had the following children: 57 i. Doris4 Stewart. + 58 ii. Barney Stewart. 39. Margie3 Stewart (O. Dayton2, Daniel Carter1) was born August 7, 1910. Margie died February 23, 1996 at 85 years of age. She married Eddie Bryant. Eddie died April 25, 1994. Margie Stewart and Eddie Bryant had the following children: 59 i. Clyde4 Bryant. 60 ii. Vivian Bryant. 61 iii. M. Bryant. Fourth Generation 58. Barney4 Stewart (Prue Lee3, Marcus Daniel2, Daniel Carter1) birth date unknown. He married Joan Unknown.
