Hutto Family Cemetery
Location: From Denmark take Highway 321 (Heritage Highway) South
approximately 1.5 miles to a sign that points toward Honey Ford Baptist Church
Turn to the RIGHT at the sign onto a paved road. Cross a RR track and
cross the Saltketcher Creek. Continue until come to the Honey Ford Church by
which there are 2 cemeteries. Neither is the Hutto Cemetery. Continue past
the church for .5 to .75 miles when on the left side of the road there will be
a private driveway with a
Palmetto Tree on either side. That drive is lined with stones. Just past
this drive on the LEFT is a dirt road with an open field to its left and a
wooded area to its right.
Turn LEFT onto the dirt road and follow it until it ends. Then turn RIGHT
into an
open field and drive in the field about 150 yards. On the right, at the edge
of the wooded area, enclosed in a fence is the cemetery. The present
caretaker is presently clearing the original roadway to the cemetery so that
in the near future one can drive directly from the paved road to the
cemetery.
This is a complete listing of all the tombstones in the cemetery. Each #1
indicates a new row that starts on the left side of the cemetery as you are
looking into it from the gate.

Other
1. At the back of the cemetery on the right side is a funeral home stake. The name and date is unreadable. Olive Parrish Cook Bloomer believes this is
the grave of Dakata or Tacola Hutto. [The first name sounds like one of those 2
words according to Ms. Bloomer], and it is believed that Hutto was her
married name and not her maiden name.
Summary: There are 54 graves in the cemetery. The first person buried there
was
Thomas Hutto, the son of John Hutto Sr., in 1850. The last person to be
buried in
the cemetery was Lucy Hutto, the wife of S. G. Ray, in 1925. The person with
the oldest date of birth was William Hutto I, born in 1787. Almost half
of the graves are those of small children. It is not known at this
time if there are any unmarked graves in the cemetery.
