Duncan M. Dew, Sr. (1860-1949) was one of the early settlers of Latta, having moved there from the Catfish section of the county. He operated a store business and worked with Maybank Co. in the selling of fertilizer and buying of cotton.

Built in 1907, his beautiful home is located on Dew St. in Latta.
