Obituary notice from Southern Christian Advocate, Vol 73 #22 pg 15 col 1 November 18, 1909, from the Sandor Teszler Library of Wofford College:

Jackson---Laban E Jackson was born December 20, 1838, and died very suddenly at his home near Latta, S C., July 12, 1909. He joined the Methodist Church at the old Clio church, under the ministry of the late Rev J W Murray, of the South Carolina Conference, July 4, 1855. He was soundly converted four days later while in the woods praying. He never doubted his acceptance with God. Brother Jackson was a very modest man, though a man of decided convictions. He was a man of few words, but his words spoke his honest convictions and he stood by them. He entered the Confederate Army early in 1862 and remained until the end of the struggle, doing his full duty in every particular. He was married to Miss Joanna Berry October 15, 1868. She still survives. Brother Jackson was a kind and loving husband, and a good and true neighbor, having the entire confidence of all who knew him.
