Death of Mrs. Agnes Jackson

Mrs. Agnes Jackson, after an illness of several months, departed this life March 31st, at about 1 o'clock p.m. Before her marriage to Mr. Alex. Jackson she was a resident of Wilmington, N.C., where her mother and other relatives reside. Her maiden name was Bufort, and was married December 18th, 1874. She was the mother of eleven children, eight of whom survive her. It was not my privilege to know her personally, but having been sick so long and passing by her residence daily and hearing others as so often concerning her I could not do otherwise than become attached to her. She had connected herself with the M. E. church, and I have reason to believe that she not only died a Christian but that she lived one. My heartfelt sympathy is with the bereaved husband and the motherless children. May God bless them all and help the father to say:

Agnes - We cannot always be together,
At last, long hour meet dawn,
When you and I must say good bye,
And Silence whispers "gone"

And O, to us will come no more,
On earth the old time hours,
When we, ah me; shall happy be,
As birds among the flowers.

But in God's better, endless years,
'Mid Heaven's delightful weather,
O, sweet-and fair-forever there,
We'll live and love forever.
