He was proceeded to the grave only about two months by his devoted wife, and they left only one child, Dr. Tom W. Hamilton a dentist of this city. Dr. Hamilton was a native of Marion county and spent most of his life here, though when a young man he went West and practiced his profession for several years, later, returning to his native county. He married a Miss Fore of Marion who as stated above died several months ago. Dr. Hamilton was a faithful and brave Confederate soldier and rose from private to captain before the close of the war. No man in the community enjoyed a greater respect and esteem from his acquaintances than did Dr. Hamilton. Always courteous, genial, and considerate of others, he made a friend of every one who learned to know him. He accumulated a large property, owning and managing large plantations in the vicinity of Marion while practicing his profession. He was a faithful and valued member of the Presbyterian church of this city. The funeral services were held at his late home to-day, and the Internment of his remains was made at the city cemetery.
