Rev. A. W. Jackson died in Florida

Rev. A. W. Jackson passed away in Tampa, Fla. last Monday afternoon after a short illness following an operation and his body was brought to Rome, Williamsburg County, and laid to rest. His remains were accompanied from Florida by his son, Rufus, and his wife.

Mr. and Mrs. Jackson had gone to Florida to visit their son, A. W., Jr., when he was taken ill. He is survived by a wife, who was a Miss Flowers of Marion County, and four sons, one daughter and one brother. His brother is Mr. Sidney Jackson of Dillon. Four of his sons, A. W. Jr., Rufus and Gus reside in Florida and Press? lives in California. His daughter, Mrs. Eva Carriway, lives in Rome, this state.

Mr. Jackson was a member of the Methodist Conference and had preached in nearly every section of South Carolina. He and his wife were known to be great workers in the Methodist church up until he was retired to the aged ministers list some years ago. He was about 75 years old and was a member of the Masons, his membership being with the Johnsonville Lodge in Williamsburg County.
