Miss Dora Jackson is dead

Messages were received in Dillon Saturday morning announcing the sad intelligence of the death of Miss Dora Jackson. Miss Jackson had been in ill health for more than a month and was taken to Riverside Infirmary at Charleston about July 1st for treatment. Everything known in medical science was done to check the progress of the malady but despite the efforts of the physicians she continued to grow weaker until 6:30 o'clock Saturday morning when she quietly passed away. The body was brought to Dillon Saturday night and the internment was made in the family plot at Dothan Sunday morning, Rev. A. J. Cauthen officiating.

Miss Jackson was a daughter of the late Reuben and Nancy Jackson and was born and reared at the old homestead near Dothan church. She was 47 years old and her entire life was spent in this section. Miss Jackson was by profession a trained nurse. About ten years ago she located in Dillon and from that day until she was prostrated with illness she followed her profession with extraordinary zeal and devotion. She was ready at all times to respond to the calls of those in distress and her philanthropy extended over quite a wide area. Miss Jackson was a life-long member of the Methodist church and at the time of her death held her membership in Dillon.

Of her immediate family she is survived by one brother, Mr. F. S. Jackson and four sisters; Mrs R. J. Moody, Mrs. Allen McKenzie, Mrs Flora Waggstaff and Mrs. Alice Waggstaft.

She was a good woman and in her death the community suffers a great loss.
