John R. Rozier

The home of Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Bryant was sadly bereaved by the death of their father, Mr. John R. Rozier who died on Friday about 4 o'clock, October 3, 1913. He had been seriously ill for more than a year. He was born May 24, 1834. He was 79 years old. He was married in the year of May 1860 to Miss Mary Ann Hayes, daughter of Esq. Levi H Hayes. This union was blessed with seven children all of whom have passed away except two, Mr. W. P. Rozier, and Mrs. R. F. Bryant of this place. He had fifteen grandchildren to survive him.

He was a brave soldier in the Confederate war. He belonged to the Hampton Legion. He was a successful farmer and a good provider for his family.

The funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. W. C. Owen assisted by Rev Loyd M Holoway of this place. He was laid to rest in the Rozier Cemetery to await the resurrection morn.
