Mrs. Mattie R. Jackson Dies in Hospital
Mrs. Mattie Rogers Jackson, 51, widow of E. L. Jackson of Rt. 2,
Dillon, died Friday afternoon in the Medical College Hospital in Charleston
following a critical illness of five months.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 4 P. M. from the Pleasant
Grove Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. R. W. Smith. Burial was in the
church cemetery, directed by Meares Funeral Service.
Mrs. Jackson was born in Mullins, a daughter of the late
George Sidney and Lillie Proctor Rogers. She was a member of Pleasant Grove
Baptist Church.
Survivors include: Her husband, a son, George William Jackson of
Thomasville, N.C.; two daughters Mrs. Thomas Norton and Mrs. Daniel Miller,
both of Dillon; four brothers, Jennings Rogers and Herbert Rogers of Dillon
and Robert Rogers of Charleston; three sisters, Mrs. Rupert Sawyer of Marion,
Mrs. Paul Causey of Mullins and Mrs. Beaufort Jackson of Mullins, and seven
grandchildren.
