Sue Herring Rast

Services for Sue Herring Rast were held 11 am Tuesday in Cooper Funeral Home. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs Rast, 89, died Sunday, February 27, 2000, in the Lowman Home in White Rock, SC.

Born in Dillon County, June 27, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Spurgeon and Kate Herring. Mrs Rast was a graduate of Columbia College. She lived in Dillon most of her life where she taught second grade. A lifetime member of the Main Street Methodist Church of Dillon, she also was a member of the Missionary Club and Book Club. She was an avid lover of children, books, flowers, ceramics, the mountains of Maggie Valley, Windy Hill Beach, and especially her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Meta Jean Rast Wasson and son-in-law, James C Wasson of Fort Mill, SC; son, Mendel Walker Rast and daughter-in-law, Ruth Rast of Hilton Head, SC.; grandchildren, Martha Sue Michaud and husband, Paul Michaud of Hilton Head, SC., Edie Jenson, and husband, Roger Jenson of Hillsboro, Oregon, Walker Michaud, Rachael Michaud, and Andy Jenson; sister, Sara Herring Sarvis of Tabor City, NC.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Mendel Rast and a son, John Charles Rast.
