Death of J.P. McManus

Mr. J. Parker McManus died at his home near Dwight on Thursday, after an illness of several weeks of fever. It was his first sickness since the war. Mr. McManus was about 75 years of age and leaves his wife and one son, Mr. G.F. McManus of Tradesville, surviving him. He served through the war between the States and was as gallant as any soldier who shouldered a musket for the cause. He was seven times severely wounded. Once an eye was shot out, another time a minnie ball knocked out most all of his teeth and part of one jawbone, the other five wounds were in the body and most of the balls passed through him. His remains were interred at Spring Hill church yesterday.
