Will of Hannah Garrett

The state of South Carolina, Laurens District.
In the name of God, Amen. The 3rd. day of December, 1818. I Hannah Garrett of the State and District afoursaid widow, being very sick and weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God for the same. And calling to mind the mortality of my body, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say.
First, I give and recommend my soul to the hands of God that gave it for my body, I recommend to the earth to be buried in a christian like manner at the discretion of my executors. Nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God. And as touching such wordly estate wherewith it haith pleased God to bless me in this life, I give divise and dispose of in maner and form following, that is to say.
My will and desire is that all my lawfull debts shall if any there be, be paid off.
Secondly, I bequeath to my beloved son Elisha Garrett the one part third part of the tract of land I now live on to him, his heirs and assigns forever.
Thirdly, I give and bequeath to my son Charles Garrett the other two thirds part of said land by his paying to my beloved son Jessey Garrett, one hundred and fifty dollars, for which fifty dollars already paid to the said Charles Garrett, and his heirs forever.
I likewise make constitute and ordain my beloved sons, Elisha Garrett and Charles Garrett my soule executors of this my last will and testament, and at my death to be possesed and enjoyed. And I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disnul all and every other former wills and leagacies. Ratifying, confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written.
