Will of Silas Garrett

In the name of God, Amen. I silas Garrett of Laurens County and State of South Carolina, planter, being of good health and of body and of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given to God, calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say.
Principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand of almighty God, that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent christian burial, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the message by the mighty power of God.
And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to help me in the life, I give and demise and dispose of and same in the following manner and form.
First, I give and bequeath to Ann my dearly beloved wife the third of my lands moveable her life and at her death the land my son Enock shall prosess her part togther with all the rest of my lands and tenements.
I give and bequeath to my son Joab, forty pounds of sterling to be paid in good trade at money rates to be paid my son Enock out of my lands.
I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary five shillings sterling.
I give and bequeath to my son Silas five Shillings.
I give and bequeath to my daughter Marthe Harris five shillings sterling.
I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Yarborough five shillings sterling.
I give and bequeath to my daughter Margret a bed and furniture, and one bindled cow with her off spring.
The remaining two thirds of my moveale property, I give and bequeath decided by my Executor Enock whom I likewise constitute make and ordain the sole Executor of this my last will and testament.
And I do hereby utterly disclose revoke and disanully all and ever other former testaments, wills, sequsies, bequeaths, and Executors by me in any wise before named willed and bequeathed. Ratifing and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto my hand seal this Third day of May, in the year of our Lord, One Thousand and Seven Hundred and Ninety Six. Signed, sealed, published, and pronounced by the said Silas Garrett as his last will and testament. In the presence of us, who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names.
