Will of Elizabeth Jones, widow of Capt. Edward Jones, Revolutionary Soldier, Laurens Co., SC: 4/6/1809 - Will of Elizabeth Jones, widow of Edward Jones is proven. Names sons Gabriel, James and Joseph to receive 25-cents each. Names daughters Frances Ward, Mary Burnsides and Nancy Burnsides to get 25-cents each. Then names her 7 children to get estate and remainder of belongings: Edward, John , Thomas, Elizabeth, Sarah, Margaret, Lucy. Sons Edward and John are executors. (Would this mean that Elizabeth was a 2nd wife and she and Edward were parents of last 7 children and Edward and an unknown spouse parented the first 6?).

I Elizabeth Jones widow of Edward Jones, Decd. of the State and District aforesaid being at this time in a low state of health, but perfectly of a sound disposing mind and memory, do constitute make and Order this my last will and testament in manner and form following --- first I direct that my body be buried in a decent manner and that all my debts be paid with all funeral charges. And as touching such worldly things that it has please God to bless me with in this life it is my will that they be disposed of in manner and form following.
First I give to my three sons namely Gabriel Jones, James Jones, and Joseph Jones each 25 cents and no more.
Second I give to my three daughters, namely Francis Ward, Mary Burnsides and Nancy Burnsides each 25 cents and no more.
Item third I give and bequeath to my seven children namely Edward Jones, John Jones, and Thomas Jones, Elizabeth Jones, Sarah Jones, Margaret Jones, Lucy Jones the whole of my estate both real and personal consisting of one third part of the land I now live on, with one negro man named Cane with all my stock hores, hogs, cattle, plantation, tools, house, beds, household and kitching furniture---to be sold by executors hereafter named as soon after my death as may be most convenient. At such credit as they may thing best and the net proceeds arising from the sale after all charges are paid to be equally divided my said seven children namedly Edward Jones, John Jones and Thomas Jones, Elizabeth Jones, Sarah Jones, Margaret Jones, and Lucy Jones each to enjoy their dividend forever; but should any one of my last mentioned children die without heirs or either disposition of their part is is my will the land be equally divided between the other surviving last mentioned children, and I do hereby nominate and appoint my two sons, Edward and John Jones executors to this my last will and testament at the same time disannulling and revoking all other wills by me made and acknowledging this only to be my Last will modified and acknowledging this only to be my last will and testament --- in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seasl this Sixth Day of April in year of our Lord 1809 and in the thirty third year of the Independence of the United States of America.
