SPHALAR - SPHARLERCivil War Veterans from LexingtonSource of submission: Confederate Archives Brothers Charles Edward Sphalar & John Jacob Spharler enlisted Dec. 30, 1861 in the 20th Regiment, South Carolina Volunteers Both were captured Feb. 14, 1865 at Lexington Courthouse, and taken to Point Lookout, MD, June 9, 1865. Administered the Oath of Allegiance on June 19,1865. (Both) Younger brother F. H. Sphalar enlisted April 8th 1865, 2 months before end of war. Charles E. Sphalar married Emiline Hutto. They had 5 children. After Emiline's death, Charles married Sabra McCullen. They had 4 children, and moved to FL. John J. Spharler married Elizabet Channey, daughter of J. O. B. Channey and Jane Barrs. The had 4 children, and moved to Arkansas circa 1890. Franklin (F. H.) Spharler moved to Rusk Co. TX, where he married Mary Katherene (Katie) Burk. They had 5 children.
