EVANS BRIGADE Ranked Pvt. when he
joined, and was promoted Corporal by the end of the war.
Stationed at Morris Island, May 9,1862. He
fought in every engagement
that Evans Brigade participated
in while attached to the Army Of Northern Virginia. In Febuary 25,1864, he
was listed as sick and stationed at Sullivans Island,S.C. He was reported A.O.L.
in January and February 1865.He was captured in Bennettsville,S.C.,March
6,1865.On the ROLL OF POW,S recieved at New Bern,N.C. from Capt.A.Burns,Company
D,10th Illinois Infantry. Roll dated office of Chief Provost Marshall District
of Beaufort,New Bern,N.C. March 26,1865.His name appears on an OATH OF ALLIEGENCE
TO THE UNITED STATES at Point Lookout,Md.,on June 29,1865.
At this time he was released from prison to go home.
