HAWKINS, WINGARD

Marsha Moses,
I just look at your site for Hawkins family #14. Jacob Hawkins did not not marry Mary Harmon. He married Mary Louisa Wingard. I have her picture. My grandmother, Ruth Graham Oswald, had to repair Louisa's grandfather's tombstone (Samuel Wingard) as there were no other relatives to do it left at our church, St. Stephens Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Jacob attended the seminary in Lexington. He walked from Tennessee to Lexington to fulfill his mother's promise to God that she had made when he was a very sick baby. If God would let him live, then he would devote his life to him. Apparently he did as she promised. Or should I said overdid it because my Great Grandmother Sarah Elizabeth Hawkins Graham told her children and family that she had enough of church growing up and would not join a church.

Just wanted to let you know. You might want to look at my Great Uncle John's (Hawkins) diary that is on line. He tells his family lineage.
Hope this helps.

PEASTER / PIESTER

I am looking for any records or information on PHILLIP PEASTER born 1828 in Newberry County South Carolina. The only records I have found are an 1850 Census were he was listed living with the BISHOP family and his Muster sheet where he perished in the year 1863, in Virginia. I know he was Married to JOSIE HARRIET KELLY as well, moved to Macon County GA(my home town) and had three children before his death. Anything before that seems to not exist. Who are his parents? and what happened that he had to live with another family?
