DEED OF CONVEYANCE; 150 ACRES
Know all men by these presents, that I,
James H. Ezell, in the County and State aforesaid, in consideration
of the sum of Seven hundred dollars to me in hand paid by J. W.
Martin, of the State and County aforesaid have granted,
bargained, sold and released and by these presents do grant,
bargain, sell and release unto the said J. W. Martin tract or
parcel of land. Laying and being in the County and State
aforesaid on the waters of Island
Creek of Pacolet river, it being
part of a tract of land formerly deeded to me by William
Dobbins, bounded by lands of the estate of Drury Williams,
Robert Scruggs and others, containing one hundred and fifty
acres, more or less, and running as follows:
Beginning on a Chesnut Robert Scruggs
corner and running S24E 44 to the creek, a Maypole, thence down the
creek as it meanders to a Black Gum, Hammett's old corner,
thence with Hammett's line to a pine, Hammett's old corner,
thence up the Mill Race, about one hundred yards to a Pine,
thence across the Bottom to a small ditch leads to a stone
corner, thence straight line to a stake, Bobo's corner, near a Black
Gum, thence N55W 14.50 to a Pine, thence N57E 32.50 to three
Chesnuts at the head of the hedge row, thence N77E with the
hedgerow 18 to a White Oak, thence S64E to the
beginning.
Together with all and singular the rights,
members, hereditaments and appurtenances, to the said premises
belonging or otherwise incident or appertaining: To have and to
hold all and singular the premises above mentioned, unto the
said J. W. Martin his heirs and assigns forever. And I do hereby
bind myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, to warrant
and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the
said J. W. Martin, his heirs and assigns, against me and my
heirs, executors and administrators and assigns, and every other
person or persons lawfully claiming the same or any part
thereof. Witness my hand and seal, this December the Fifth, in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy
nine, and in the 104`'' year of the Sovereignty and Independence

DEED OF CONVEYANCE; 20 ACRES
Know all men by these presents That I,
James H. Ezell of the above named State and District do for and
in consideration of the Sum of Two hundred and fifteen Dollars
paid by Jesse Hammett of Spartanburg District and South Carolina
the receipt and payment acknowledged hath bargained Sold given
granted and by these presents do grant unto the said Jesse
Hammett a certain Tract or parcel of Land in the State and
District aforesaid on Island Creek containing about Twenty acres
more or less.
Beginning on a Black Gum at John Hicks
fence thence a North direction to a pine near the ditch running up
the north branch, Thence a South direction to a popular stump
near Jesse Hammett's fence, thence same direction to a popular
tree, then with J. H. Ezells new fence to John Hicks not [knot]
corner, Thence an East direction with an old hedrow [hedgerow]
to a Black Oak. Thence a north course along John Hicks rocky
field, hedrow to a Sweet Gum near the branch thence with the
meanders of the branch to the beginning.
Together with the Mill, Theshar and Cotton
Gin with the privilege pf keeping open the two ditches leading up
the two prongs of the Creek, for the use and benefit of the
Mill, Threshar and Cotton Gin with all the profits pertaining to
the said piece of land, said Jesse Hammett is to have and to
hold to himself his heirs and assigns forever from myself my
heirs and assigns forever the right whereof I warrant myself my
heirs and every other person or persons claim or claims.

this first day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand
Eight hundred and fifty Two.

Know all men by these presents that I,
James H. Ezell, of the above named State and County, for and in
consideration of the sum of Two Hundred and fifty dollars, to me
paid by President Lawson, of the aforesaid State and County,
have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do
grant, bargain, sell and release unto the said President Lawson,
all that tract or parcel of land, situated in Spartanburg County and
state of South Carolina on Island Creek waters of Pacolet river
and bounded as follows:
On the North by Willis Martin, on the East
Drury Williams and John Martins estate, on the South Drury
Williams, on the West by lands known as Floyd's land, beginning
on a Post Oak running S89E 30 to Gum, thence 58714E 4.50 to
Pine, thence S 1814E Pine Swamp, thence S33W 7.50 Popular stump,
S61 W 15.73 Post Oak stump, thence N44%W Post Oak 4.60, thence
N84%W 16.40 stone in place of Red Oak, thence N13E 1.475 to the
beginning corner, said to contain Forty acres, more or
less.
Together with all and singular the rights,
members, hereditaments and appurtenances belonging or in assigns
incident or appertaining. To have and to hold, all and singular
the said premises before mentioned unto the said President
Lawson his heirs and assigns forever, and I do hereby bind
myself, my heirs, exe-cutors and administrators to warrant and
forever defend the said premises unto the said President Lawson, his
heirs and assigns, against myself, my heirs and assigns, against
any person or persons whomever lawfully claiming the same or any
time thereof.

Carolina } Know all men by these presents that I Landon Farrow
of the State aforesaid in the County of Spartanburg in
consideration of the sum of Ten Pounds to me paid by John Couch
of the said State and county of Greenville have granted, bargained,
and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain, and sell,
release and relinquish unto the said John Couch all that
plantation or tract of land lying and being Northwest of a Line
conditionals made between the said Landon Farrow and Couch
beginning within a few feet of the river on an Ironwood tree and
running from thence a direct line to a sweet gum on the branch
known by the name of the Old Pied Branch at an intersection spot
where it crosses Browns line from thence along Browns line westward
to the river. Together with all and singular the rights to
the said premises belonging or in any wise incident to the same
to have and to hold all and singular the premises before
mentioned unto the said John Couch his heirs, assigns forever
and I do hereby bind myself, my heirs, executors, administrators
and assigns to warrant and forever defend the said premises unto
his heirs and assigns against my self, my heirs, executors, and
administrators or assigns laying any just claim title or right to
the same or any part thereof. Witness my hand this
6th Day of January in the year 1797 and in the

Samuel Farrow, Sheriff to

January 2, 1791
This Indenture made the
9th day of March in the year of our Lord, One
Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety between Samuel Farrow, high
sheriff of the county of Spartanburg in the District of Nine Six
and State of South Carolina Esquire, of the one part and Thomas Tod
of the County District and State aforesaid Farmer, of the other
part.
Whereas a writ of Fieri
Facias issuing out of the worshipful court of the County of
Spartanburg on the third Monday in March Seventeen Hundred and
Eighty Nine, was directed and directed to the said sheriff
commanding him to cause to be made of the goods and chattels land
and tenements of Charles Waters, the sum of six pounds ten
shillings and five pence sterling which lately in the said court
before the worshipful Bayles Earle presiding and the rest of the
justices of the said court held for the county aforesaid at the
court house of the said county, John Couch recovered for his
damages about his defense in a certain action brought against
him by the said Charles Waters where of he is convicted and liable
of record. An whereas the said Charles Waters is seized and
possessed in his ________ as of fee of a certain tract or parcel
of land containing three hundred acres of be the same more or
less lying and being in Spartanburg County aforesaid and whereas
the said Sheriff in pursuance of the said writ of Fieri Facias
and by virtue of his said office did seize and take into his
custody the tract of land with the appurtenances thereon to
belonging three hundred acres situate lying and being on the
north side of Enoree River in the County of aforesaid and hath
such shape and marks buttings and boundings as the above plat
represents as also by letters patent from under the hand of his
Excellency William Moultrie, Esquire, Governor and Commander in
Chief in and over the said state bearing date the second day of
October Anno Domini One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Six
and recorded in the Secretaries Office in Grant Book O.O.O.O.
page 42. And after levying the Fieri Facias upon the said
land and advertisement thereon made according to law, the said
Samuel Farrow upon the Eighteenth day of March last caused the
said three hundred acres of land with appurtenances to be put up at
public sale to the highest bidder at seven pounds five shillings
and five pence sterling at which time the said Thomas Tod became
the last and highest bidder at the sum of five pounds for the
aforesaid three hundred acres of land with appurtenances.
Now this
indenture witnesseth, that the said Samuel Farrow high sheriff
of the County aforesaid in pursuance of his said office and the
writ of Fieri Facias aforesaid and for and in consideration of the
sum of five pounds to the said Samuel Farrow in hand paid before
the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof
the said Samuel Farrow doth hereby acknowledge hath granted,
bargained, and sold, aliened, _____, assigned and leftover,
conveyed and confirmed, and by virtue of his said office and in
pursuance of the aforesaid writ of Fieri Facias as fully as he
can, and is thereby empowered and enabled doth by these presents
grant, bargain, and sell, alien, ______, transfer, assign and
left over, convey and confirm unto the said Thomas Tod, his
heirs, and assigns the aforesaid three hundred acres of land
situate lying and being as before mentioned. Together with
all and singular the houses, fences, woods, underwoods, trees,
waters and water courses, profits, advantages, endowments,
tentaments, rights, members and appurtenances whatsoever
to the said three hundred acres of land belonging or in any wise
appertaining and the yearly rents and profits thereof and all
the estate right, title interest of the said
Charles Waters therein
to have and to hold the said three hundred acres of land and
other the premises herein before mentioned and intended to be
hereby granted, sold, aliened, transferred, left over, assigned,
conveyed and confirmed unto the said Thomas Tod his heirs and
assigns to the only proper use, benefit, and behalf of the said
Thomas Tod his heirs and assigns for ever in full and ample
manner as the said Samuel Farrow, high sheriff of the county of
Spartanburg aforesaid, by virtue of his office of high sheriff
of the said county and in pursuance and execution of the
aforesaid writ of Fieri Facias is herby empowered and enabled to
convey, alter, transfer the same three hundred acres of land with
the appurtenances and every part and parcel thereof, unto the
said Thomas Tod, his heirs and assigns forever and the said
Samuel Farrow, high sheriff of the county aforesaid, doth hereby
covenant, promise, and agree to and with the said Thomas Tod his
heirs and assigns that he, the said Thomas Tod, his heirs and
assigns may from time to time and at all times hereafter have
hold, occupy, possess and enjoy the premises and appurtenance and
every part and parcel thereof free and clear of and from all and
all manner of encumbrances whatever or had made done and
committed by the said Samuel Farrow or by any other person or
person by this order means or presentment. In witness
whereof the said Samuel Farrow, high sheriff of the county
aforesaid, has set his hand and seal the day and year first above
written signed sealed and delivered in the presence of:

Land containing Eighty Three Acres more or less situated in
the District of Spartanburg & running on Johns -- Commencing

presents that I Smedley Lynch of said State and District in
consideration of Four Hundred Dollars to me paid by Benjamin
Couch of said place have granted, bargained and sold and by these
presents do grant, bargain, sell and release all that
plantation, tract or parcel of land containing two hundred acres
be the same more or less situate, lying and being in the
District aforesaid on the waters of Enoree River the branches of
Elishas Creek originally bounded by vacant land now bounded by
land held by Nathan Smith westwardly, by R. Alephant and John
Anderson northwardly, eastwardly by Spencer Bobo, southwardly by
Samuel Farrow. Together with all and singular the rights,
members, hereditaments, and appurtenances to the said premises
belonging or in any wise incident or appertaining to have and to
hold all and singular the premises before mentioned and the said
Benjamin Couch, his heirs and assigns forever I hereby bind
myself, my heirs, executors and administrators to warrant and
forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the said
Benjamin Couch, his heirs and assigns against myself, my heirs
