William Meaders
Last will & testament
Recorded the 19th of March 1822
In the name of God amen. I William Meaders of Spartanburgh District and State of South Carolina being infirm in body but of sound mind memery understanding Thanks be to God for it, do make this my last will & testament -- vis. I give and bequeath to my loving wife Ann Meaders the plantation on which I now live with all my household & kitchen furniture with all my live Stock I may have at my decease as long as she shall live. To my son Thomas Meaders all the woodland in the fork of the branch to him and his heirs forever. To my son John Meaders one half of the remainder of my tract of land including the house in which I now live -- but to permit my Daughter Peggy Hindman to live in the house so long as she shall choose so to do the rest of my and I give and devise to my Grandson John Meaders being the lower part of my land to him and his heirs forever---to my Grandson William Hindman one bay colt& one feather bed and furniture. The rest of my personal property to be sold by the direction of my Executors and equally divided be my daughters & two sons viz. Elizabeth Harralson, Jane Smith, Peggy Hindman, Dorcas Vice, Jesse Meaders, James Meaders, Nancy Moore. Lastly I do here-by nominate constitute and appoint my son John Meadors whole & sole Executor of this my last will and testament in –
In Witness where of I set my hand and Seal this fourth day of March in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred & fourteen and thirty eighth of the Independence of America.
Sign`d, sealed, Delivered & Published by the within named William Meaders as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence subscribed our names as witnessee thereto.

Personally appeared before me Ebsworth Moore a Subscribing witness thereto & saith he saw the des William Meaders, sign and seal this Instrument of writing/believing it to be his will and that he was in his proven senses when it was executed & that he saw Charley Moore and Lawson Thompson witness the same with himself—Capt. Charley Moore being sworn saith that he saw William Meaders sign, seal, publish, pronounce and describe the same to be and contain his last will & testament and that this the said William Meaders was then of sound and disposing mind, memory and Understanding to the best of the deponents knowledge & belief; and that he the said Charles Moore  did sign his name as a witness thereto, at the request of the testator, in his presence—At the same time qualified John Meadors Executor—Given under my hand this 12th day of February 1822.
