 Reverend Joseph Gadsden of Moncks Corner died July 12, 2006, at his residence. Funeral services were held July 17 in Grace Reformed Episcopal Church with the Rev. William Butler, Jr. and the Rev. Fred Garnett officiating. Burial, directed by Gethers Funeral Home, Inc., was in Holy Comforter Reformed Episcopal Church, Moncks Corner, SC.Reverend Gadsden was born July 13, 1910, in Cordesville, SC, son of Sarah C. Gadsden and Samuel Gadsden. He was educated in the Berkeley County School System. He was employed by Santee Cooper and later employed by Northwoods MallHe was a member of Holy Comforter Reformed Episcopal Church where he served faithfully as a Lay Minister for more than 60 years. Rev. Gadsden also served in the Sunday School, and he was the Founder of the Joe Gadsden Combined Choir. He was first married to Christine McNeil Gadsden who preceded him in death. He later married Johnnie Bell Bryant.Survivors include: his wife, Johnnie B. Gadsden of Moncks Corner, SC; one son, Joe Gadsden, Jr. of Teaneck, NJ; two daughters, Loureen G. Ferguson of Summerville, SC and Levonia G. (Moses) Middleton of Moncks Corner; one son he reared as his own, Earl W. Gadsden of Najara, Fla.; one stepson, U. S. Army SGT Julian (Kershell) Crawford of Ft. Sill, Ok.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Willie Ruth Washington of Lake City, SC; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Gadsden.

Ervin M. Garrett, 64, of Summerville, SC, a retired supervisor and purchasing agent for United Piece and Dye Works, died Friday at his residence. The funeral will be 12:00 Noon Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Cross. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday evening. Mr. Garrett was born Aug. 17, 1941, in Cross, SC, a son of Willie M. Garrett and Sally Risher Garrett. He was an Army veteran of Vietnam and a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon. He was a member of the International Association of Laryngectomees and was the former vice president of the New Voice Club of Charleston. Mr. Garrett was a graduate of Cross High School. Surviving are, a daughter, Charlotte Poole of Summerville; three sons, John R. Theriot of Bonneau, Lee Theriot of Summerville, and Joseph Theriot of Elizabethtown, KY; five sisters, Mary Jane Crumby, Alma Dallas, and Johnnie Mae Winningham all of Cross, Laverne Sweatman of Pinopolis, and Viola Adkins of Eutawville; two brothers, David Garrett of Moncks Corner and J.W. Jimmy Lee Gresens, 43, of Moncks Corner, SC, a former marine machinist for the Charleston Naval Shipyard and Detyens Shipyard, died July 13, 2006, in a North Charleston hospital.A memorial service was held 11 a.m. July 17 in the Chapel of the Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. The Rev. Jim Steedley officiated. Mr. Gresens was born June 12, 1963, in Oakland, Calif., a son of George W. Gresens and Brenda Baker Gresens. He was a graduate of Goose Creek High School and attended Trident Technical College. He was an avid fisherman.Surviving are his wife, Sharon Huxford Gresens; his father, of Summerville; two daughters, Rebecca A. Royse of Due West, SC, and Ashley M. Mrs. Gruber was born August 27, 1939 in Bronx, New York, a daughter of the late Raymond L. Kurr and Lillian Mackey Kurr. She worked for Quoizel, Inc. as a line productionest, then moved up to clerical and retired with twenty years of service. She is survived by a brother, Howard Kurr of Glendale, AZ; two very special friends, Debra Zachau of North Charleston and Roberta Taormina of Goose Creek; and many special nieces and nephews throughout the country. She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond G. Kurr and a sister, Doris Doughty.

Martin William "Bill" Gunder of Summerville will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2006 at St. Theresa the Little Flower Catholic Church, 11001 Dorchester Road, Summerville. He was a retired Vietnam War veteran of the United States Air Force. He enjoyed sports, woodworking, gardening and reading.  William Earl Gunnells, Sr., 82, of Moncks Corner, SC, a former carpenter for Charleston Constructors, died July 10, 2006, in a Charleston hospital. The funeral was held 2 p.m. July 14 in the Chapel of the Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. The Rev. Benny Williams officiated. Entombment was held in Berkeley Memorial Gardens. Mr. Gunnells was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Bamberg, SC, a son of Earl Gunnells and Miriam McKenzie Gunnells. He is the widower of Alberta Mitchell "Bertie" Gunnells and was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanette Burbage. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Gunnells was the former owner and operator of Gunnells Tackle Shop. Surviving are a daughter, Catherine Cadden of John's Island; a son, William E. Gunnells, Jr., and his wife, Sandra, of Moncks Corner; a son-in-law, James Burbage, Sr., of Moncks Corner; two sisters, Lila Joyner of Olar, SC, and Dorene Larsen of Round O; three brothers, Russell Gunnells of Bishopville, Jessie Gunnells of Barnwell, and Roosevelt Gunnells of Charleston; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a special friend, Lillie Bell Reid of Johns Island.
