Willie James "Bill" Peagler, 85, of Cross, SC, a retired Security Guard
with the Hanahan Water Plant, died Aug. 21, 2006, at his residence. The
funeral was held 11 a.m. Aug. 24 in the Chapel of Dial-Murray Funeral
Home, Moncks Corner. Bob Robertson, Rev. Dwayne Sweatman, and Chaplin
Jerry Styles officiated. Interment followed in the Mt. Olivet Baptist
Church Cemetery, Cross. Mr. Peagler was born on Sept. 3, 1920, in
Cross, a son of Willie Washington Peagler and Ocie Mizell Peagler.
He was a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and was an Army Air
Force veteran of W.W. II. Mr. Peagler enjoyed restoring old cars and
tending to his vegetable garden. He was a wonderful husband for 64
years and a loving father. Surviving are his wife, Ronell Clark Peagler;
two daughters, Ann Bell and Josephine Peagler Browning both of Cross;
two sons, Willie James Peagler, Jr. of Moncks Corner and Larry Woodrow
Peagler, Sr. and his wife, Debra, of Summerville; three sisters, Thelma
Myers of Summerville, Ellen Owens of Tucson, Ariz., and Judy Coker of
Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and
one great-great grandchild. Pallbearers were David Bell, Jr., Dan Bell,
Don Bell, Dean Bell, Jimmy Peagler, III, and Larry Woodrow Peagler, Jr.

Sergeant John Paul Phillips, United States Marine Corps, 29, of St.
Stephen, SC, an explosive ordinance disposal technician, died Aug. 16,
2006, in a Texas hospital. The funeral was held 11:00 a.m. Aug. 26 in
the Russellville Christian Church. Dr. Gene Moorehouse, Sgt. Mark Vera,
Sgt. Mike Chapman, and C.T. Meree officiated. Interment followed in
Sunset Memorial Cemetery, St. Stephen, with full military honors.

Sgt. Phillips was born Sept. 12, 1976, in Kingstree, SC, a son of
William Allen Phillips, Sr., and Linda Barrs Phillips. He was a
graduate of Macedonia High School and a member of the Russellville
Christian Church. Sgt. Phillips served two tours of duty in during
Operation Iraqi Freedom and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William A. Phillips, Jr.
Surviving are, his wife, Stephanie Naert Phillips; his parents of
St. Stephen; a brother, Christopher Michael Phillips of St. Stephen;
two nieces, Ginny Evelyn Phillips and Loren Nichole Phillips; and two
nephews, Nathaniel Pierce Phillips and Alexavier Edward Vera.

Lieutenant Perry Alexander Proudfoot, Jr., US Navy, Ret.,
79, of Goose Creek, SC, died Monday morning in a North Charleston hospital.
The funeral will be 2:00 PM Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 27,
2006, in the St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Goose Creek. Friends
may call at DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER, from 5:00
until 7:00 PM this Tuesday evening. Flowers will be accepted or
memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation,
Director of Development, 1501 NW 9th Ave., Miami, FL 33136.
Mr. Proudfoot was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Roselle, NJ, a son of
Perry Alexander Proudfoot, Sr., and Caroline Teller Ackert
Proudfoot. He was a retired accountant for General Motors and
a Navy veteran of W.W. II and the Korean Conflict. He attended
Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Orchard Lake, Michigan, and
was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Mr. Proudfoot
was formerly married to the late Marie Schumacher Proudfoot and
was preceded in death by a sister, Helen P. Bishop.
Surviving are, his wife, Eva D’Alonzo Proudfoot; three daughters,
Kathryn P. Littleton, Marie M. Proudfoot, and Carol L. Proudfoot
all of Goose Creek; a son, William P. Proudfoot of N. Charleston;
a sister, Sally P. Meland of New Castle, Colorado; and two
grandchildren, Nicole Littleton and Jarritt P. Proudfoot.
