Charles (Chuck) Eugene Landes, 49, of Moncks Corner, a retired U.S. Navy Chief
Petty Officer, died Sept. 4, 2006 at his residence.
The funeral was at 10 a.m., Sept. 6 at Russell Funeral Chapel. Burial was in
Biggin Cemetery. Officiating was the Rev. David Clanton.
Mr. Landes was born December 11, 1956, in Piqua, Ohio, a son of James D. Landes
and Oneta (Butch) Wiley Landes. After graduating from Franklin High School in
Franklin, Ohio, Chuck made a career in the Navy serving until his health required
him to retire. He was a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves. He also enjoyed bowling
and coached the Saturday Strikers youth league at Swamp Fox Bowling Center for a
number of years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Franklin, Ohio,
Veterans of Foreign Wars and NCOA.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Umphlett Landes of Moncks Corner, two daughters,
Lori Landes of Middletown, Ohio; Alena Landes Gale and her husband, Tripp, of
Pinopolis; sister, Pam Bunnell and her husband, Todd, of Franklin; and three aunts.
Chuck (Pops) was blessed to share the lives of Alyssa Weathersbee, Wyatt Lail,
Kayla Lail, Kiersten Lail and Hunter Phillips. They brought him great joy
until his last day.
Pallbearers were Bryan Ware, James Gregory, Will Umphlett, Daniel Lance,
Roger Sheppard, Robert Weathersbee, Butch Livingston.
Ruth Kingsley Lape, 86, of St. Stephen, SC, widow of Merrill Jay Lape,
died Friday evening in a North Charleston hospital.
The funeral will be 12:00 Noon Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, in the Life
Baptist Church, St. Stephen. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial
Cemetery. Friends may call at the CHURCH from 10:30 AM until the hour

Mrs. Lape was born Feb. 10, 1920, in Hatfield, MA, a daughter of
Harry Kingsley and Mabel Cannon Kingsley. She was a member of Life Baptist Church.

NC, and Linda Cay L. Watson of Little Rock, AR; two sons, Rev.
Robert L. Lape of St. Stephen and Jimmy Merrill Lape of McBeth;

Ray Lewis, 74, of Moncks Corner, SC, former owner and operator of Ray Lewis Construction,

Solon Bethea Sonny Lewis, Jr., 77, of Moncks Corner, SC, a State constable and a
retired chief of police for the Town of St. Stephen, died Friday evening in a
Charleston hospital. The funeral will be 11:00 AM Monday morning, Oct. 9, 2006,

BB's Lounge, died Sun., August 27, 2006 at her daughter's residence.The funeral

Ms. Litchfield was born Aug. 25, 1945, in Long Island, NY . After many years of
dedicated work, Carol realized her life long dream of owning and operating her
own special place where her friends could gather and enjoy themselves, BB's Lounge.

Graveside funeral services for Elizabeth Agnew Luke of
Summerville were held April 2, 2006 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church
Cemetery.
Mrs. Luke died March 30, 2006 The Presbyterian Home of South Carolina in
Summerville. She was 89.
Mrs. Luke was born Feb. 9, 1917 in Hendersonville, N.C., the daughter of
the late John Edward Agnew and the late Eliza "Lilla" Holmes Agnew.
She was one of Charleston's first licensed tour guides and a former
member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America.
Mrs. Luke was a member of the Junior League of Charleston and was
employed by the Charleston Preservation Society. She was a
member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Summerville. Survivors include
one son, G. Lindsay Luke and his wife, Betsy of
Summerville; one daughter, Mary Luke Chapman and husband, Eason of
Florence, S.C.; five grandchildren, Dr. Gordon Lindsay Luke, III,
Samuel Cantey Luke, David Hall Chapman, Katie Holmes Chapman, and Adam
Eason Chapman; three great-grandchildren, Anna Hall Chapman,
Gracyn Lindsay Luke, and Samuel Cantey Luke, Jr. Mrs. Luke was
predeceased by her sisters, Rosemary A. Camp and Jane A. Lucas.
